July's Birthstone: Carnelian

It’s July and it’s my birthday month! And I’m so excited to be showcasing July’s birthstone, carnelian.
Carnelian is a stone I really resonate with. It is said to restore vitality and motivation, as well stimulating creativity. Perfect if you run your own jewellery business, right?!
Its deep burnt orange colour, verging on warm red, activates the sacral chakra, which allows us to feel deeply, and connect with our emotional selves. An intensely sensual stone, carnelian encourages us to express our inner desires and passion! To amp up the warmth of carnelian even further, I love setting it in yellow gold.
This bright red ethically-sourced carnelian is set in a simple handcrafted 9ct gold bezel setting on a sterling silver band, hallmarked by the London Assay Office. The ring is lightly polished and catches the light beautifully!

The warmth emanating from carnelian means that it’s a perfect stone for the height of summer. All those warm and sunny vibes mean that I love carnelian with a white outfit. Perhaps a carnelian earrings paired with a boho floaty summer dress, or a carnelian necklace with a crisp, white linen shirt. A carnelian set with yellow gold would be absolutely perfect, and if you can stack your carnelian ring with a set of delicate yellow gold stacking rings, so much the better!
But if you feel that a white outfit is strictly for the courts of Wimbledon, carnelian looks gorgeous with its polar opposite colour, turquoise.
