February's Birthstone: Amethyst

In this series I am showcasing each month’s birthstone, so you can find out all about the properties of the stone, and get ideas about how to style your birthstone jewellery to create your perfect seasonal look!

Let the Purple One get you through this thing called life!

February’s birthstone amethyst is known as the “soul stone”, stimulating the third eye chakra. It can be used as a powerful meditation aid, and is said to relieve headaches, prevent nightmares, and ease the burden of insomnia.

As you can probably imagine, amethyst is one of my favourite gemstones! It’s a central part of my ETERNAL SPRING collection, which is inspired by the fleeting beauty of lilac blossoms at the height of spring, and one of my favourite quotes by Victor Hugo: “Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart; I breathe at this hour the fragrance of the lilacs, the violets, and the roses, as at twenty years ago.” While I usually set amethyst in sterling silver, a little hint of gold can sometimes add a bit of much-needed warmth.

Amethyst’s distinctive purple colour comes in so many different tones and shades. Amethysts in subtle pale lilacs with cool undertones look stunning paired with other pastels, a perfect fresh look for spring! Wear bright and warm purple amethysts with other bright colours to really make a statement - I personally love yellow and bright purple together, I think it’s such a striking combination, and can be very uplifting. And if you’re feeling a little bit mean and moody, an oversized statement ring set with a dark, inky amethyst will give complete your edgy look. So whatever your style, check out my range of amethyst jewellery to find your perfect match.
